Goosetown
Circa 1880
With the arrival of the Colorado Central Railroad a large neighborhood of
German immigrant workers grew up around the railroad works. Large building
dug into hillside with roof pictured is the Colorado Central Roundhouse (1872-1927).
Blocks of buildings in foreground are the homes and businesses of Goosetown.
Goosetown was named either after Adolph Coors' flock of geese nearby or after
the laughter of its ladies. Note Church Ditch irrigation for farmers
at right.
