"Early downtown Golden, Colorado" - 1.07.003
Washington Avenue
Circa 1878
Looking south down Washington Avenue one can see the Jefferson County Courthouse
towering over the streetscape. Pictured in right foreground are Smith's
Corner, the Taft Building and Odd Fellows Hall, whose upper floors were joined
together in 1878 by prominent Colorado hotelkeeper George W. Bacon into the
original Avenue Hotel. Avenue Hotel's sign may be seen on Odd Fellows
Hall building (third from right).
