Martin, Alex. "Court House, Golden" - 1.07.018
Jefferson County Courthouse
Circa 1877
Pictured here is the first Jefferson County Courthouse building, constructed
in 1877. Photograph is taken from 15th Street looking across northeast
corner of present-day Foothills Art Center grounds towards courthouse location
at southeast corner of 15th and Washington. This Courthouse served as
the headquarters of Jefferson County government from 1877-1953, also serving
as the Jefferson County History Museum (now Golden Pioneer Museum), later
destroyed in 1963. Fraction of building at right is the First Presbyterian
Church (1872), now Foothills Art Center.
