Photographed here is an early view of the central area of Golden's historic downtown district, looking north from above 14th Street between Washington Avenue and Jackson Streets.  Larger brick building in center of photograph is Colorado's first Baptist church building, the First Baptist Church of Golden (stood 1865-1963; congregation still exists).  At right foreground is the present-day Dove Inn (711 14th Street, built by Ebenzer T. Osborne in 1868).
