"Villa Coors" - 318
Coors Mansion
Circa 1900
This photograph shows the home of Adolph Coors and his family, before a group
of companion buildings including the greenhouses were built. The mansion
was originally built by Coors and Schueler as the dance pavilion for Golden
Park in 1878. In 1882 the building was fully enclosed and divided, with
the Coors family living in half and the other half used for grain storage.
In 1903 Coors hired Denver master architect Harold W. Baeressen to convert
the basic building into this beatiful mansion designed in Palladian motif.
It has since remained in the Coors family and has been pushed eastward 3 times
by brewery expansion.
