Coors Brewery
Circa 1898
View of the Coors Brewery at the time it is achieving national prominence.
Includes the large brick skyscraper additions designed in Romanesque style,
and the first introduction of early modernism to Jefferson County. At
left is likely the Besser House, the quarters of the brewery foreman, later
dismantled with lumber donated to construct the addition to the parsonage
of Calvary Episcopal Church. Much of this brick complex was built by
noted contractors Phillipi & Smith. It would continue to exist until
replaced by the present concrete structures in the early to mid 20th Century.
