Armantrout, M.J. "Chemistry bldg. & the Colorado School of Mines" - 372
School of Mines Campus
1912
This image is taken from what is now the east end of Kafadar Commons, showing
what are now Chauevenet Hall and Stratton Hall. Chauevenet Hall in this
photo is still two separate buildings, the Assay Laboratory and Power House,
built in 1900 and 1904. Famous Colorado mining baron, Mines trustee
and giver Winfield Scott Stratton, who had earlier given the Assay building
to the school, gave Stratton Hall in his will when he died. Stratton
Hall is the work of noted Denver architect Harlan Thomas.
